Look of the Day: Mix High & Low for Great Travel Looks

Look of the Day [Travel 2012]

So here’s the dilemma: I will finish styling the last show for Mobile Fashion Week next Saturday, and then hit the road as soon as we finish to catch the plane to Paris. The beauty is that this season is full of items that are interchangeable to create amazing looks, with a few key pieces. What better way than to mix higher end pieces with affordable items that have great sustainability.

The featured piece is this jacket I have from last season that BCBG has re-created for Fall 2012. My version is created with a wool blend, so unbuttoned, its not too hot. Buttoned up-its perfectly warm! The jacket’s versatility allows it to go from being paired with denim, to being paired with a pencil skirt and slingback pumps.

The Lespring Messenger is the perfect, cross body travel bag. It can be carried by the handle or worn with the strap. It carries an iPad, iPhone, camera, passport and license and small toiletries perfectly.

Two great buys: Forever 21’s skinny denim, and Mossimo’s ballet flats. Both items retail for under $20, but are excellent pieces to mix. The jeans aren’t too bulky and work well with tunics, shorter dresses, and layered looks, because the denim is crafted to be thinner. The jeans come in a variety of washes [a dark gray is featured here]. The ballet flats also come in numerous colors; depending on your need for support for long days, inserts may need to be considered.

Best of all, the items effortlessly represent Pantone’s color trends for the Fall.

Ready-to-Wear Runway Looks for Resort 2013

While preparing for creative meetings for Fashion Week, I reviewed the most prominent trends that we will see for Resort, and likely Spring, 2013.  There is plenty to choose from when it comes to silhouettes, coupled with refreshing patterns, prints and colors.  Black and white paired together remain timeless, while bright accessories will have their moment too.

Invitation to the Sass & Bide Runway Show [London Fashion Week]

The Sing, Brother Collection

I can’t even pretend to hold my excitement; Hartzog-Bagsby received an invitation to attend the Sass & Bide runway show for Spring/Summer 2013 in London during Fashion Week. BrandMe Media mogul E.F. Hunter will be in tow!

The Australian beauties that created the brand go far beyond the norm and design absolutely gorgeous pieces. They have created one-of-a kind garments for the lovely Carrie [Sarah Jessica-Parker] on Sex and the City and continue to take design composition to another level. I’d wear each and every last one of the looks in the gallery above; I’m sure you would agree.

Toms: One for One

“With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One.” -TOMS

I’m embarrassed to say that my first pair of Toms [$54] arrived on the doorstep today. And why? There is no excuse that I love shoes (and possess as many as I do) and do not have at least two pair in my closet already. I am an advocate of supporting children that may not be as fortunate as others, so the ideology of Toms fits right into two of my favorite passions: fashion and humanitarian causes.

I LOVE the comfort and the styles that are available, and my next purchase will be eyewear. The Fall 2012 line has a pair of alloy metal Navigator aviators that have a brown gradient lens and gold frames. The company recently partnered with Visualiza in Guatemala to provide eye care and glasses to all ages in Guatemala City and Antigua; cities plagued with the inability to access proper eye care.

I’m sold. Mr. Bagsby will have a pair coming his way (he doesn’t even know it yet), Padre will be getting some, and even mini me, Gianni, must have the Leopard Cordones for the fall.

Invitation to Caroline Charles’ Runway Show [London]

Courtesy of Caroline Charles

When I checked my email and saw the notification that I would be receiving an invitation to attend the Caroline Charles S/S 2013 runway show for London Fashion Week in September I was speechless!!!!  The British shows are quite difficult to get into, even if you request entrance far before the week’s schedule  is published.

The designer has celebrated over 40 years of design success, providing womenswear for Naomi Campbell and Princess Diana and tailored suiting for Mick Jagger.

Needless to say, you don’t have to worry about me getting there late with iPad and iPhone in hand.  The show will take place at the lovely Somerset House on Friday, September 14th in London, England.

Hartzog-Bagsby is the Official Host for The Art of Fashion

Carlisha Hartzog Bagsby has been confirmed as the official host for The Art of Fashion Celebrity Show being presented on September 2nd in Mobile.  The show’s ultimate purpose is to raise funds to increase lupus awareness and accommodating services.  Reality star K. Michelle will be the evening’s featured guest, along with an abundance of designers.

Sacred Heart Collections is the first design house that has been released as one of the presenting designers.  The Collection’s designer, Brandi Russell, takes delicate care to design for the woman that can appreciate class and trend simultaneously.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.amsmusicsouth.com .

Look of The Day- Monochromatic Appeal

Look of The Day- Casual Friday
Casual Fridays in the corporate world don’t mean that you always have to wear a polo style shirt and khakis (I’ve actually never been that girl).  For the fall season, embrace the monochromatic appeal of head to toe neutrals.  Add a little color with accessories, or keep it simple with diamond studs and great bracelets.  If the blouse is a bit much, a cream, jersey v-neck will do the trick as well.
