2012 Mobile Fashion Week || September 3-8 || Mobile, Alabama
There was not an ounce of hesitation when Mobile Fashion Week‘s founder, Richard Hamilton, sent me a message on Facebook to ask if I would be a part of fashion week for 2012. Pure excitement is an understatement. Richard has been an asset since the first time I met him, and has assisted me with fashion projects with nothing less than a welcoming smile. As preparation for the week is underway, the sponsorship and participation this year for a worthy cause will make this a statement in the Gulf Coast that will continue to grow.
Camp Rap-A-Hope is the beneficiary of our work, an organization that provides assistance to children, and their families, that experience the challenge of living with cancer. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for such a worthily cause, which impacts families not only in Mobile, but the states of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and any other neighboring states that have children that could benefit from the programs offered.
The week will offer multiple shows and parities, which will debut on September 3rd and culminate on the 8th. Designer Bradley Parnell, the creative mind behind the brand William Bradley, has been announced as the first designer that will be featured in this year’s events. Parnell, who won the 2011 designer competition for Mobile Fashion Week, is a notable outcome of the University of Alabama’s fashion design program, and designs with contemporary, European edge. As I type, I am coveting a one-shouldered tiered dress, with a semi-sheer ecru train that gives a high-low hem effect: utter allure.
The event is currently being sponsored by over 30 companies, and the list continues to grow. Private Gallery, Lunatix & Co, Aveda, Lucca, Access Magazine and J. Edward Beauty are a few of the fashion-forward sponsors that will make Mobile Fashion Week a success.
