Its always a pleasure to participate in fashion events, but its even sweeter when the boutiques and designers that you work with are remarkable. Amongst all of the boutiques I styled this year, C K Collection and I got to work together for the second time. The boutique paraded Valentino Red, Marc Jacobs, Missoni and über amazing Chloé boots around the runway for Fall 2012. C. K. Collection had a sensational selection of textures, metallics and accessories to pull from.
Featured here are 10 of the 12 looks from concept to implementation. The snapshots are iPhone images after we determined the core looks we wanted to show, pulled our model profiles, coordinated the lineup based on looks and models, and put it in place.
Its no wonder that CK is regarded as one of the most preeminent boutiques on the Gulf Coast— hands down. A special thanks to Beth and Susi for always being joys to work with.

Hartzog- Bagsby and Brand Me Media covered the Friday and Saturday night fashion shows for Atlanta International Fashion Week and it was interesting to see such a diverse set of ideals about design, and the aesthetic interpretations that walked the runway. The Celebrity Walk for Charity on Friday night was by far the more successful event than Saturday night’s runway shows at Future Vision, but there were a few designers that shined. Overall, the venue was gorgeous; 200 Peachtree has a great ambiance to it that screams high fashion and elegance.
Sacred Heart Collections, L.A.H.A (designed by Lillian Jones of St. Louis for young girls and had an AWESOME presentation), Maria Allen, Dwight Overton and the opening pieces from celebrity designer Jason C. Peters gave the show some substance and paid homage to structured, practical design. There were garments that were presented throughout the show that displayed poor craftsmanship and did not uphold the basics of form and construction, such as finished hems and properly cut fabrics.
My three primary takeaways:
- Proper tattoo concealment: I love and embrace tattoos as much as the next gal, but when they dominate the clothes that are coming down a runway– we have an issue. Should large, obscene tattoos, that are not strategically placed, be prevalent on the runway of a “high-fashion” presentation?
- Garment Construction: Although many sample pieces will likely never be sold to a consumer, when they are used for presentation purposes, they should be well-constructed and completed. When you sit on the front row, you can see eeeeeverything.
- Hair & Makeup: Good hair and makeup application can enhance, or provide a distraction, during a runway show. Consistency in implementation is a key factor.
